PRESS STATEMENT – GHANA RICE FESTIVAL 2019
The Ghana Rice Inter – Professional Body (GRIB) supported by the John A. Kufuor Foundation, is inviting the general public to participate in the 2019 Ghana Rice Festival to be held at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra on Friday, 8th November, 2019.
The festival aims to celebrate Ghana’s burgeoning local rice industry that has seen a massive turn around over the last few years and continues to grow stronger by the day. It will also be an occasion to showcase the various ‘high quality produced in Ghana’ rice that have better taste than a lot of the imported varieties and have been approved by regulators.
Through the work of our initiative; “the Public-Private Partnership for Competitive and Inclusive Rice Value Chain Development: Planting for Food and Jobs – Rice chapter,” the rice sector continues to grow stronger every day.
The initiative which is co implemented by MOFA, Intervalle, Hopeline Institute, Sparx farms and Volta City Farms has chalked some success since commencing in November 2018 which is making the rice industry better. CALLIGHANA is also supporting the initiative.
We will want to take advantage of the excitement that comes with this festive occasion of the Ghana Rice Festival to encourage all Ghanaians to eat ‘Ghana rice’ to support the local industry to grow stronger. We look forward to seeing you all at the Ghana Rice Festival 2019 as we seek to promote a sustainable local rice supply chain.
Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto will be the key note speaker at the event. Officials from the Alliance for Green Revolution (AGRA) as well as German Development Corporation (GIZ) will be there. There will be networking and business interactions as well as a gathering of members of GRIB.
Thank you
Signed
