Kufuor Scholar Kabu Nartey has been adjudged the 2018 Best Student Journalist by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
The recent graduate from the Ghana Institute of Journalism was among 78 other media personalities who were awarded at the 24th GJA Awards night held at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, in Accra.
Kabu is popular for his thought provoking articles including a weekly column he publishes on various websites themed: “The patriotic epistles with Kabu Nartey.”
The Kufuor Scholars’ Program (KSP) Class of 2019 member was full of excitement after picking up the award.
“It came as a huge surprise: the highest confirmation of what God is doing; a reminder of focus in an earnest search for inner patriotism for a beloved country,” he said.
“I dedicate this award to the John A. Kufuor Foundation from which I received training in leadership. This is the earnest search to become a mirror of the former President John Kufuor and a good brand ambassador for the KSP,” he said.
This is Kabu’s second honour this year after he was celebrated at the 4th Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) Eminence Awards 2019 as the youngest recipient of the GIJ 30 under 60 award.
Coordinator of the Kufuor Scholars Program Dr. Pascal Brenya praised Kabu’s achievement, describing him as a shining example for young people in the country.
