In furtherance of the legacy of selfless leadership and commitment to national development by His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, former President of Ghana, a fund raising dinner will be held in his honour at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday 12 May 2018 at 7 p.m.
The dinner, being organized by The John A. Kufuor Foundation (JAKF), is in line with the “80 for 80” campaign which seeks to raise GH₡ 80 million Ghana cedis to commemorate the upcoming 80th birthday of former President Kufuor.
Proceeds from the fund-raising dinner will go into the establishment of the Kufuor Endowment Fund which will facilitate the Foundation’s work in the areas of leadership, governance and economic empowerment.
The event will be under the distinguished patronage of Her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood, former Chief Justice and Rt. Hon Edward Doe Adjaho, former Speaker of Parliament.
It promises to be a night of great fun and celebration of Ghanaian excellence. The dinner will be graced by notable guests from all walks of life and corporate institutions that share the commitment to Ghana’s progress. Patrons will also get the opportunity to experience the vision of former President John Kufuor and his post-presidency achievements being realized through the Foundation.
The “80 for 80” campaign is a yearlong initiative inaugurated in January to raise GHC 80 million cedis to support the JAK Foundation Endowment Fund. The fund will support the completion of the Kufuor Centre for Leadership and Governance at the University of Ghana. When completed, it will provide leadership and governance training to both Ghanaians and the international community.
Furthermore, the fund will also support the Kufuor Scholars Program, which provides transformational leadership training and mentoring for young tertiary students. The program has successfully trained and mentored 34 scholars since its inception in 2016 and is about to induct the latest batch of 25 students.
Other initiatives to be supported by the fund are the Kufuor Young Entrepreneurs Network; Kufuor Annual Awards and Kufuor African Elections Observers Groups.
