KSP 2016 class graduates September 24th
The pioneering class of the Kufuor Scholars Program will be graduated on Monday, September 24 at the forecourt of the John A. Kufuor Foundation.
This marks the culmination of a three year leadership training process which began in 2016. A total of 16 scholars will graduate at the ceremony.
The Kufuor Scholars Programme (KSP) was instituted by the former president to produce the next generation of transformational leaders and to become agents of social change for sustainable development.
In line with this goal, the scholars have been taken through several training camps, seminars and other initiatives to shape them as leaders. The exposure gained through their linkage to both local and international resource persons has proved immensely beneficial to them and the program at large.
“They came in ready to learn from various regions in Ghana. Their desire to learn is what empowered us to give off our very best and give them knowledge beyond the classroom”, says Dr. Pascal Brenya, Coordinator of KSP.
During the course of the program, the scholars have been able to design and execute their own social intervention projects to tackle peculiar problems in various communities. The 2016 cohort successfully implemented five projects.
These include the Cell Not Hell program, which provides educational support and books to inmates of the Kumasi Central Prison. They also implemented a public lecture series at the University of Education, Winneba and held a dental screening exercise in Kumasi. They have also carried out a community education project in Bantama.
Through the auspices of the program, some scholars have been able to take part in international leadership programs and seminars. The members of the 2016 cohort have participated in the BXAI Summer Program, an annual youth leadership training program held in Asia.
Each group won awards for exemplary leadership in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
All the scholars have benefited from the opportunity of being mentored by prominent personalities from varied walks of life.
Having graduated from their respective universities earlier this year, the scholars are currently transitioning into professional life.
“These are not average Ghanaian graduates. Anyone who associates with them can never prove me wrong”, Dr. Brenya adds.

Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah, CEO of the foundation has also been impressed by the development of the graduating class.
“The last three years have been so productive with the Kufuor Scholars Program. I have observed the progressive maturity on the part of the scholars. Our efforts to imbue them with the core values of integrity have succeeded. I also understand the disciplined programs we have exposed them to have impacted on their studies too. We look forward with anticipation to their leadership roles in the future,” Prof. Agyeman-Duah
